We stayed longer than planned in Brisbane, and we’re adjusting to the real-life timeline being slower than the imagined timeline. It’s not a bad thing. We have finally made our way north to Bundaberg after two months in Brisbane, and are so grateful for our family welcoming us to stay with them as we meander the Queensland coast. Spending time with our loved ones — family and friends — was the primary reason for our return, so it’s a treasure that we were able to live with my sister while we prepared to set off. She was a short drive from JW’s mum, his wonderful long-time high school friends, and my dear friends Chris & Sofie and Beck, so our time was well spent in their company.
We visited the Ipswich Nature Reserve, Mt Coot-Tha Botanic Gardens playground, Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Riverbend Books and Avid Reader as well as watching my brother and Emelie (aka Hollow Wood) play a set, celebrating our wonderful friend Bob’s 80th birthday and playing a (probably) once-in-a-lifetime game of human chess across the dining room tiles at Chris & Sofie’s in costume.

Now we are settling in with JW’s dad in Bundy and have driven Mt Cario to the backyard for a test camp! (Mt Cario is our home on wheels - another post to come about the Triton ute renovation soon, but if you want a sneak peak head to Instagram, follow along and catch up on Parts 1-3 in the Reels!)

In between tweaks to Mt Cario and JW helping his dad with a few fixes around the house, we’ve had the fortune to visit some amazing beaches (Kelly Beach & Nielson Park), enjoy fresh fruit ice cream at Tinaberries Farm and take the girls to a great local playground, and, most importantly, were able to join the Bundaberg Regional Libraries. Mia is learning to knit and after mastering hearts, we’re moving onto Christmas trees.

We’re planning a brewery tour of the Bundaberg Brewed Drinks company, a visit to the Alexandra Park Zoo.
Our secondary focus for our return is to set up a market garden, so we are now turning our attention to prospective land options as we travel through the state. While we’re in Bundy, we’re filtering Realestate.com for land in surrounding towns/areas of more than an acre within our budget- allowing us to set up camp and vibe it out.
Our third pressing issue is the arrival of our boxes from the UK. After 2 months at sea, they have arrived in Melbourne and will soon be making their way to Brisbane, so we’ll be heading back to the big smoke in a couple of weeks.
Hopefully it won’t be so long between posts!
Its not once in a lifetime we can totally do that again next time you're here!
Miss you Watsons but what an adventure! Keep us posted and enjoy all that family time xxx
